Hello and Welcome to Daydreams of Quilts. My name is Anita LaHay and I am the quilter and blogger behind Daydreams of Quilts. I live in Alberta, Canada.
A bit of personal History:
I have been sewing and crafting since I was a little girl. The earliest thing I can remember sewing is a little rag doll with black button eyes that I hand sewed with my Mom when I was four years old. For most of my childhood I mainly worked on cross stitch and embroidery projects with some small project sewing and garment sewing. I started quilting in 1997 when my husband (then boyfriend) was deployed to Bosnia. While I still enjoy cross stitch and embroidery, quilting is my main focus. I am a Journalism Arts graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and enjoy using my Journalism skills in writing and photography here on my blog, guest posts on other blogs and in magazines and e-zines.
Where I'm at now:
I am a military wife with three children. In the past two years I have released several quilt, embroidery and pincushion patterns on my website Daydreams of Quilts.com Etsy and Craftsy shops. Quilt patterns can also be found on UpCraft Club.com. Links to my shops can be found in my blog sidebar. I continue to contribute to the crafting and quilting community by publishing tutorials, magazine articles and patterns.
Honest talk about Affiliate Links:
This blog contains affiliate links. So far, to be quite honest, I have not received a single cent from these links. I continue to hope that I will be able to contribute to the family's bottom line, or at least support the expense of quilting supplies, but up to November 2016 that has not been the case. So while I put the disclaimer "if you click on these links and make a purchase I may receive a small affiliate commission" in reality this has never happened. There is some money in my affiliate account but I have thus far not hit the threshold to actually get a payout. I really appreciate those of you who use my links to buy supplies.
** Update: In February of 2017, after having affiliate links on my blog for more than a year, I received a payment of $79.00. Thank you for your support.
I do consider sponsorship opportunities and I do accept blog sponsors from time to time. I only recommend products, fabrics, books etc. that I use myself. Please feel free to contact me through email if you wish to discuss a sponsorship or collaboration. :) There is an email icon in the mason jars on my blog sidebar.
My current interest is in teaching others what I have learned and in learning from others as well. I enjoy the challenge of developing my own patterns. Thank you for being here and being a part of the Daydreams of Quilts community.
I am hoping to branch out into offering more fabric and supplies in my Etsy shop this year and moving into 2017.
To keep up to date because we cannot all be on each other's blogs and social media all the time I have a Newsletter and a Facebook Group. Feel free to join both! :)
