Daydreams of Quilts Blog Buttons

Hi Everyone. I am popping in today because in the near future there may be some navigation issues on this blog and I wanted to get a post up about it before it happens.

For my Navigation buttons at the top of the blog (Home, About, Shop and Tutorials) as well as the social media buttons on the side bar I host my button images on Photobucket and the images have links attached to take you to the various places on my blog or the web that the button is associated with. If you are on a mobile device you can't see these anyway (which is another problem) unless you choose to view the web version of the blog but for those of you on a laptop or desktop you can see these buttons.

Photobucket announced on July 6th that they will no longer allow "third party hosting" on the images they host unless the person using their service (me in this case) pays them $400 US a year to upgrade their Photobucket account. They have been sending me emails the past couple of weeks that my Photobucket account is going to be restricted. This means that unless I pay $400 then my blog button images will no longer show up here on my blog.

I have been thinking of moving to a self-hosted Wordpress blog for a couple of years and this is the kick in the butt I needed to do that. However, I wasn't really budgeting for this at the moment so it is going to take me a month or two to get the new blog up and running.

In the meantime I am going to put all the affected links in the body of my blog posts so that people visiting can still get around. Feel free to click over and follow me at any of the social media links below. :)

I will put these links in the body of every post until I get the new, improved and more beautiful blog up and running. You will be the first to know the new blog address! :)

Cute Cactus Pillow

Some of you may remember when I released the Kawaii Cacti pincushion pattern a couple of years ago. It was my very first pattern. Since then it has been featured a few times by Etsy (this is like gold to Etsy shops) and is my highest viewed listing which is fantastic. However, many of the people who see it don't sew so it isn't much use to them. They ask me if I have the pincushions for sale but so far I don't because of the length of time they take to make (about four hours). I don't feel they would be in the price range that most people would expect to pay for pincushions. Plus, does someone who doesn't sew really have a use for pincushions? So what I have listed instead is a throw pillow which takes the same amount of time but is a more useful item for people who don't sew. It was my project finish of the day yesterday. :)

I think it's pretty close to the originals. Minus the pins! ;)

I probably should have thought of this before now... but anyway, it was fun making the sample. Thanks for stopping by today to see it!

Pixel Star in a Pixel Heart Quilt in Pink and Aqua

I had this quilt top ready to piece together on April 10th (I know because I posted the layout on Instagram). Finally three months later I have the quilt finished! :D I got busy with custom orders which I am certainly not complaining about. Nevertheless, I am thrilled to have my quilt finished.

This is the Pixel Star in a Pixel Heart quilt version 2 from my pattern.

(The pattern has two versions of the quilt.)

This pattern can be found at Daydreams of Quilts, on Etsy and on Craftsy.

Pixel Star in a Pixel Heart Quilt designed, pieced and quilted by Anita LaHay of Daydreams of Quilts.
This quilt is made entirely of Bonnie and Camille Fabrics. There are fabrics from about six of their lines in here.

The backing is the strawberry print from the "Hello Darling" line.

I even used some of my long treasured "Marmalade" fabrics in the heart and the star. The star is quilted with big loopy springs. The heart is stippled and the background is what I call "balls on strings".

A closer look at the star.

Here's an out take shot (too much mottled light) with my Border Collie mix puppy. He's about 5 months old and we've had him for a month. He is very high energy. I wish I had his level of energy! :)

Thank you for stopping by to see my quilt today.

The Christmas in July Pattern bundle sale is coming up next and today I would like to share a sneak peek of some of the patterns that will be included.

My Pixel Tree in a Pixel Heart pattern is part of the bundle as is Blossom Heart Quilt's "DIY Block Design ebook".

We also have this beautiful "First Snow" pattern by Woodberry Way which I definitely have on my list of quilts to sew. I also love this Christmas tree by Quiet Play.

These are just a few of the patterns that will be in the bundle coming available next week! I will have a link to purchase here on the blog as soon as the pattern sale goes live on Monday. It will only be available for 72 hours.
